Braeden is a real character! Tonight while trimming Bill''s hair, Braeden decided to help out. He was doing good and would comb Daddy''s hair while I trimmed. But I guess that was too boring because Daddy was cooperating.
Out of the corner of my eye I see Braeden heading to Dandee (one of our cats) with a come and clippers in hand. I told Braeden "Kitty dosen''t want his hair cut". Like any 2yr old he had to find out for himself. He combed Dandee''s hair instead. Thank goodness because I''d hate to see a chunk of hair zapped out of the cat....he he he he!
Well it felt like it at Church today. We tried putting Braeden in Bridgekids (Sunday school/daycare) again and he went willingly with no problems. He went straight into the rooms and began playing with cars and trains. We then snuck out and went to the service.
Half way through the praise worship we see the guy in charge of Bridgekids bring in a piece of paper to give to the production team. We were sitting in the parent section so this was very easy to see. We kept trying to see if it was Braedens number (they give the child and the parent the same number. Braeden wears one and I wear one so they know he belongs to me when I go to pick him up).
Well nothing pops up on the screen for some time so maybe it was just a note. One of the assistant pastors comes on stage to do the announcements and mentions how sometimes they have to ask parents to get their kids from Bridgekids. He made a few jokes about a child being unrulely. Well, guess whose number comes up on the screen? BRAEDENs! So off I go as everyone is looking to see whose kid it is. I waved and told the usher "I''m so excited I won the lottery".
My poor baby was standing at the gate holding a hand full of trains and crying "unny, unny". He gladly dropped every train in his hands and wanted to go sit with us. So off we went. Of course while sitting in the service he proceeds to tell me about the trains and he wants to go see the trains again.
Braeden helped me to make a care package for my mom (Grandma Slack) so that I could take it to her in the hospital. He picked out crayons, coloring books, word searches, bubbles, and even some soft flowers with smiles on them. He loved the flowers so much that he had to keep two for himself.
Today I visited with my mom and took her the bag of goodies. I would have loved to take Braeden with me because my mom would have enjoyed having him there. Unfortunatly that is one of the down sides to Chemo, children are not allowed on that unit.
She loved her goodies and is looking forward to getting home. We''ll be taking Braeden to see her at home as long as he is healthy.
After 5 days of a fever, we think it finally ended today. Braeden''s personality started to come back on Thursday. Yet his fever hit him hard in the afternoon. On Friday he woke up again with a fever but was still in a chipper mood. Today he woke up with a fever but within hours it was gone. He ate so well today and was his fun lovin goofy self.
Speaking of goofy, Braeden has started mimicing what we do as in the way we stand. He now crosses his arms and will try to do the same with his legs at the same time. Poor guy has limited balance so he props himself up against something, crosses his legs and arms and grins. I gotta get a picture of this to share with you all. It is the cutiest thing ever!!
Braeden has been running a fever since monday. Well last night he woke up at 11:30 and I brought him to bed. We gave him some Motrin and he watched a movie. At 1:30 he nudges me and says "Eat, Eat". So I got him some crackers. He hasn''t been eatting much at all. At 3am he nudges me again and wants milk. This time he is shaking and burning up. I took his temp and it was 104.7.
Bill was sleeping on the couch because of a bad cough so I went down to get him. Told him to call the on call ped and ask if they want us to take him to the hospital. Yup! So off we headed to the hospital.
First they thought Flu because they have been seeing a lot of high fevers associated with the flu. They did a snot test (suctioned his nose) and that was negative. Did a strep test and again negative. Now they are wondering what else is going on. Off to xray for a chest xray to rule out any infection there even though his lungs were clear. Still nothing. Now for blood. Bill had to leave the room while I helped the nurses get blood. And guess what..............negative still! Even his white blood cell count was within the normal range.
The ped decided to give him a round of antibiotics through the IV port in case it''s bacteria. We need to follow up with our ped tomorrow and they should have more test results from the hospital by then.
We got home at 8:30am and you would think that he would pass out. NOPE. My little man is wide awake. Mommy is ready to pass out though.
